Tuzla Sandblaster

Sand blasting, or sandblasting, is the process of cleaning the surfaces of metals, woods and plastics. Side grinding requires a more comprehensive organization compared to motor brushes and similar methods, but it gives very successful and unattainable results with other methods. Especially for metals to be painted, sand blasting is undoubtedly the most successful surface preparation method and there is no other surface preparation method that can compete.

Ship Raster Principle

Sand or various other projectiles are sprayed onto the surface to be scraped at high speed by passing through a nozzle operating with the Venturi principle with compressed air. Meanwhile, it removes paint, rust and other coatings on the surface and creates a roughened surface with micro-craters.

What is Ship Rasp?

The most basic definition of blasting, also known as sandblasting, is the process of spraying sand particles with pressure on the metals to be repaired and cleaned. During this process, sand is filled into a pressure-resistant boiler and sprayed onto the surface with compressed air a hose. Thanks to the sandblasting work, the surface of the ship is free dirt, dust and oil. This process is applied before painting to prevent the surface of the ship with air contact.

Why is blasting necessary for ships?

Metal materials used in shipbuilding wear and rust over time, depending on the conditions of use. The scraping process has an important place among the maintenance that should be carried out in this process. Sandblasting before applying protective paint to the ship removes rust and corrosion on the ship's surface, thus extending the protection of the paint and thus the service life of metal surfaces. Although surface coatings on ships and boats are very expensive or made with the latest technology, the result will be unsuccessful unless the surface preparation is done correctly. For this reason, blasting, that is, sandblasting, has a very important place in the maintenance of both ships and boats.

What are the materials used during the blasting process?

The materials to be used vary according to the machine to be used during the scraping process and the material of the surface to be sanded. For example, different consumables are used due to differences in ship blasting and boat blasting surfaces. While materials such as steel grit, silica sand, basalt sand are used for steel boats, sandblasting soda, organic shells, and low specific gravity sands are preferred for fiber boats. Metal, glass or mineral abrasive materials can be used in sandblasting machines. Materials such as stainless steel balls, glass beads, steel grids, basalt silica, organic shells, aluminum oxide balls are among the sandblasting consumables. Each material should be used for the most suitable surfaces. For example, silica sand can be used if a lighter blasting is desired on sensitive surfaces. For more difficult and hard surfaces, sandblasting with a grid should be preferred. Grid is the type of sand with the highest sandblasting power. It can be used especially for sandblasting large and heavily worn surfaces.
